Weddings We Love: Emma + Tony

Our Weddings We Love Series is all about capturing beautiful moments between couples that we adore. In our inaugural post, learn a little more about our Co-Founder, Emma!

First things first, tell us a little bit about your Mr. (or Mrs.)!
Tony and I met in high school marching band! I was immediately drawn to his humor and sarcasm... everyone seemed to have fun when they were around him. Tony is a great balance in my life and truly keeps me in a level space.

How did the "big moment" happen? What's the first thing that popped into your head after he popped the question?
We had planned a trip to Disney World (my favorite place!) to celebrate my graduation from MSU. We were going to a special dinner at The California Grill in Disney's Contemporary Resort and I could tell something was off! Tony is not good at hiding his emotions (part of why I love him... he is always his authentic self) he kept drumming along with songs on the radio and was acting really strange.  When we got to the restaurant, we decided to go out on the patio overlooking Magic Kingdom. We were admiring the view and when I turned around, Tony had a ring box in his hand! He was so adorably nervous and excited it made my heart swell! I of course said yes! When we went inside, the manager noticed and so did everyone else! People were congratulating us and they brought us just engaged buttons, champagne and a special dessert. It was truly magical!

Tell us a little bit about your wedding style.
Our main goal was to have a fun, whimsical and love filled day. We wanted our love for our friends and family as well as each other to be evident and we wanted to make sure our guests had a great time! We incorporated fun things for our guests like a photo booth, candy bar and paper lantern launch to make sure they had a memorable day.

What was the most exciting part of the wedding planning process (save the wedding itself!)?
I personally loved finding our venue... it just felt right! Tony's parents had randomly gone out for a drive and were the ones to discover The Rosewood Inn and the second I saw it I knew it was the place for us.  I also loved picking out my dress... well, I loved it when I was at the right place!  I had tried a few different dress boutiques but didn't like any of them.  When I found The White Dress in Brighton, it felt like home.  The owner, Kristy, was so warm and welcoming and the atmosphere is so calm and so happy.  I loved it.  Deciding on my dress with my VIPs there was truly special.

Describe your wedding in one word.
Awesome.

What was the most challenging part of the wedding planning process?
Coming up with a plan and theme that we both agreed on whole heartedly. I am very detail oriented and had so many ideas that I wanted to execute. Tony only had a few things that were important to him but I ended up taking over everything! Since Tony is fabulous and knew it was really important to me to have it look and feel a certain way, he let me run with it!

If you could change anything about your wedding or the planning process, what would it be?
I wish over all things that we had hired a videographer! I love watching wedding videos and I think it's a great way to remember everything, especially the speeches! I also wish that I had a wedding planner. Our coordinator at Rosewood was great but there were small details that she had no way to know about and they got missed. I wish I had someone to hold everything together.

Finish this sentence - In 25 years, the thing I'll remember most about my wedding day is...
how I felt. I just felt so complete and happy. When the wedding was over I cried for at least twenty minutes because I was just filled with so much joy, love and happiness.
